An awareness and promotion programme on vermicomposting was organized by
ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur on 22/4/2026 at Piphema A village under the thematic area of promoting alternative
and sustainable agriculture. The programme was conducted as part of the ongoing intensive campaign on balanced use of fertilizers,
an initiative of the Government of India.
A total of 52 farmers participated in the programme, including
27 male and 25 female farmers. The training was conducted by Dr. Moanaro, Programme Assistant, and Marneni Divya
Sree, SMS (Agricultural Extension), who provided practical insights on the preparation and benefits of vermicomposting.
During the programme, experts highlighted the importance of vermicomposting
as an eco-friendly, cost-effective method for improving soil health. Farmers were educated on the preparation, maintenance,
and benefits of vermicompost, including its role in enhancing soil fertility, improving crop yield, and promoting long-term
sustainability. Farmers actively interacted during the programme and expressed keen interest in adopting vermicomposting techniques
for better crop productivity and soil health. Vegetable seed kits were distributed to the participant farmers.
